BARBADOS, CANADA, GUYANA & MEXICO STRIKE GOLD AT WORLD MASTERS IN AMSTERDAM

PAN AMERICAN SUPERSTARS ATHLETES BROUGHT HOME A REMARKABLE  5 GOLD, 4 SILVER AND 4 BRONZE MEDALS!! The Netherlands played host to the 2024 WSF World Masters Squash Championships where over 1,200 of the best male and female players over 35 years of age competed at the Frans Otten Stadion. The venue bosted  21 courts as is the largest squash club in the country.               

CONGRATS TO OUR 2024 STARS and especially to Nicolette Fernandes (Guyana) and Karen Meakins (Barbados) for bringing home their 2nd back-to-back World titles!  Truly remarkable accomplishments!

GOLD MEDALISTS

Women’s 40+ NICOLETTE FERNANDEZ (Guyana) #1 winning it 11-6, 11-4, 12-10 over #2 Samantha Teran of Mexico.

 

Women’s 50+ KAREN MEAKINS (Barbados)- defended her 50+ title in super style by defeating South Africa’s Linda Shannon in straight games.

 

Men’s 50+ MARCO MENDEZ (Mexico). Unseeded Mendez, the surprise package of the tournament, fulfilled his dream run by defeating Nicholas Staunton 11-1, 11-2, 11-2 in the final. Mendez didn’t drop a single game in all of his 7 matches.
Women’s 55+ LAUREN WAGNER (Canada) The #1 seed successfully won the North American duel over ¾ USA’s Hope Prockop 11-5, 11-9, 12-10.

 

Men’s 80+ GERRY POULTON (Canada) The #2 seed proved dreams do come true as he defeated his countrymate nemesis Howard Armitage 14-12, 4-11, 11-9, 11-6
