WORLD #5 PERU’S DIEGO ELIAS- set some amazing records in 2022!
He started 2022 in perfect fashion, beating Fares Dessouky to claim the Sturbridge Capital Motor City Open, before then finishing runner-up at the inaugural Optasia Championships in Wimbledon, England. A second final appearance in 2022 came at the J.P. Morgan Tournament of Champions, where he lost out to World No.1 Ali Farag.

The Peruvian added to his title tally later in the season though, with an incredible run at the Necker Mauritius Open Presented by Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels, as he came through the entirety of the Gold level tournament without dropping a game, beating England’s Mohamed ElShorbagy in the final.

His great form continued in the latter part of the year, as he made at least the semi-finals of his last six outings. Elias claimed another major title in October, as he won the U.S. Open in Philadelphia, along with making the finals of the MARIGOLD Singapore Squash Open and the Everbright Securities International Hong Kong Squash Open to end 2022.
