About
OUR 2023 - 2027 EXECUTIVE BOARD
The Federacion Panamericana de Squash (FPS) serves as the official regional governing body for squash in North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean. Collaborating closely with the World Squash Federation (WSF) and 23 member nations, the FPS actively promotes the sport’s development and fosters collaboration within the region. Notably, the FPS organizes two annual championships, namely the Pan American Senior Championships and Pan American Junior Championships. Additionally, every fourth year, squash takes center stage in the quadrennial Pan American Games, with the most recent edition hosted in 2023, Santiago, Chile.
History of FPS
The FPS is responsible for holding annual Junior Pan American Squash Championships and annual Senior Pan American Squash Championships except every 4th year being the year of the Pan Am Games; which squash has participated in since 1995. To date ten (10) different Pan American countries have medalled in squash at the Games.
Squash is committed to being recognized as a clean sport. The FPS, run by a volunteer board, oversees the technical management of all Pan American major games and championships and provides leadership and collaboration in raising the sports visibility and profile. The FPS also continues to spearhead regional coaching and officiating programs as squash experiences rapidly growth. Squash continues to be afforded to the mentally, emotionally, physically and financially disadvantaged and has also become an excellent pathway for athletes to gain admission into many top universities and colleges.
Pan America currently boasts 3 players ranked in the top 10 on the world professional tour (PSA), the 2nd highest number of world top 10 players in a region next to the African Squash Federation.
Squash, recognized as one of the healthiest sports, is highly entertaining, inspiring and with its state of the art four-wall glass court technology has become an easily integrated sport being played in many of the world’s most iconic venues. Technology has exploded not only in manufacturing, broadcasting and live streaming but it has revolutionized teaching and training with its ability to instantly analyze both ball and player behavior and project interactive training modules on the front wall of a squash court.
