XXIX Panamerican Squash Championships opens in world class style!

After a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, 11 countries representing North America, Central America, South American and the Caribbean have arrived in Guatemala City, Guatemala to battle it out at the XXIX Panamerican Senior Squash Championships.

Athletes were showcased in a world class Opening Ceremony yesterday, which included a warm welcome from the Guatemalan Olympic Committee President Lic. Gerardo Aquirre, Autonomous Sports Confederation of Guatemala President Eng. Fernado Caceres and Carlos Cardona, President of the Guatemalan National Squash Association for Squash, FPS Secretary General Lolly Gillen, Treasurer & VP Caribbean Janet Sairsingh, and VP Central America Italo Bonatti, followed by the delivery of the the Olympic Games’s oath committing athletes to respect and abide by the rules in the spirit of sportsmanship. by tournament Technical Director Leonardo Arozena from Brazil.

Maycol Padilla, General Manager of the Guatemalan National Squash Association for Squash, his organizing committee and volunteers have done a phenomenal job preparing for the return of this prestigious event. It was obvious all the athletes, coaches and delegates were extremely impressed with the presentation and Guatemala’s incredible hospitality; everyone is thankful and thrilled to be back competing again.
