PERUVIAN PUMA DIEGO ELIAS CAPTURES 2ND PANAM GAMES MEN’S INDIVIDUAL

In a repeat of the last three Pan Am Games Men’s Individual finals, World #2 Diego Elias defeated Colombia’s superstar Miguel Rodriguez 3-1 to capture his 2nd Pan Am Gold in a row.  Elias lost to Rodriguez in the finals in Toronto 2015 but went on to win on his home turf in Lima2019. The former World# 4 Colombian, playing in his fourth straight Panam Games final,  proved age is just a number as the 38 year old (in December this year) as he flew around the court for over a hour, running down Elias’s laser tight shots; finally succumbing to defeat in the 4th game in front of a screaming, jam packed crowd that never wanted this incredible display of squash to end.

FINAL SCORE– 11-4, 7-11, 11-5, 11-4 (62 minutes)
