Asuncion 2026: Everything you need to know
The stage is set for one of the biggest weeks in Pan American squash.
From August 15–22, Asunción, Paraguay, will welcome the XXVII Panam Senior Championship, bringing together more than 140 athletes from across the Americas for eight days of singles, doubles and team competition.
With 20 nations announced for the championship, Asunción 2026 is set to become the largest and one of the most important events in PanamSquash history.
But this championship is about much more than continental titles.
20 nations. 140+ players. One goal.
Argentina, Barbados, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and USA are set to be represented in Asunción.
More than 140 players will compete across the different disciplines, making this an extraordinary gathering of the Pan American squash community.
The championship will be hosted at the Secretaría Nacional de Deportes (SND) in Asunción.
Some of the continent’s biggest names
Asunción will bring together established international stars and some of the most exciting players from the new generation.
In the women’s competition, players to watch include Amanda Sobhy (USA), Marina Stefanoni (USA), Hollie Naughton (CAN), Nicole Bunyan (CAN), Caroline Fouts (USA), Margot Prow (BAR) and Lucía Bautista (COL).
The men’s field will also feature major names, including Diego Elías (PER), Leonel Cárdenas (MEX), Declan James (JAM), Miguel Ángel Rodríguez (COL), Timothy Brownell (USA), Juan Camilo Vargas (COL) and Matías Knudsen (COL).
From experienced champions to emerging Pan American talent, the level of competition promises to be exceptional.
Singles competition starts August 15
The first champions of Asunción 2026 will be decided in the individual competition.
August 15–16: Opening rounds

August 18: Finals

The championship will then continue with doubles and team competition, completing eight days of squash in the Paraguayan capital.

The Road to Lima 2027 — and LA28
Asunción 2026 carries an additional significance.
The championship is part of the qualification process for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, with 11 team places on the line. Peru already holds its position as the host nation.
That makes every result in Paraguay even more important.
For the continent’s athletes and national teams, this is another major step on a much bigger journey:
Asunción 2026 → Lima 2027 → Road to LA28.
With squash preparing for its historic Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the next generation of Pan American athletes now has an unprecedented goal ahead.
