The doubles competition at the XXVII Pan American Senior Squash Championships – Asunción 2026 came to an exciting conclusion, with Colombia emerging as the dominant nation after claiming two of the three gold medals available across Women’s, Men’s and Mixed Doubles.
After the individual titles were decided, doubles brought another intense day of competition in Paraguay, featuring some of the continent’s leading players and several nations battling for places on the podium.
Colombia celebrated victories in Women’s Doubles and Men’s Doubles, while another Colombian pairing reached the top of the podium in Mixed Doubles, reinforcing the country’s outstanding performance during this stage of the championship.
Tovar sisters claim Women’s Doubles gold
Laura Tovar and María Tovar 🇨🇴 completed an impressive run by defeating USA’s Alexandra Jaffe and Caroline Fouts 🇺🇸 in the final.
The Colombian sisters controlled the championship match and secured the title in straight games, 11-7, 11-8.
Their road to gold included another strong performance in the semifinals, where they defeated top seeds Hollie Naughton and Nikole Todd 🇨🇦 11-9, 11-5.
Jaffe and Fouts earned their place in the final after overcoming Brazil’s Laura Silva and Renata Furtelli 🇧🇷 11-3, 11-8.

Colombia added another gold medal through Matías Knudsen and Juan Camilo Vargas 🇨🇴, who produced a dominant performance throughout the Men’s Doubles competition.
The Colombian pair reached the championship match without dropping a single game and maintained that perfect record in the final against Guatemala’s Alejandro Enríquez and Josué Enríquez 🇬🇹.
Knudsen and Vargas captured the title with an 11-10, 11-7 victory, completing the entire tournament without losing a game.
Their semifinal was equally convincing, as they defeated Brazil’s Yuri Pollak and Diego Gobbi 🇧🇷 11-5, 11-2.

The Colombian success continued in Mixed Doubles, where Ronald Palomino and Lucía Bautista Sarmiento 🇨🇴 delivered another undefeated run.
Just like their compatriots in Men’s Doubles, Palomino and Bautista Sarmiento went through the competition without dropping a game.
In the final, they defeated USA’s Timmy Brownell and Marina Stefanoni 🇺🇸 in straight games, 11-4, 11-9, to secure the Pan American title.
The champions had previously defeated Argentina’s Segundo Portabales and Paula Rivero 🇦🇷 11-4, 11-3 in the semifinals.

With the individual and doubles champions now crowned, attention at Asunción 2026 turns to the Men’s and Women’s Team competitions.
The team event represents another crucial stage of this historic championship, which has brought together 20 countries and more than 140 athletes in Paraguay.
There is also plenty at stake on the road to the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, with Asunción serving as the continental team qualification event. The championship will determine 11 qualified teams, while Peru already holds its place as host nation of Lima 2027.
