PanAm Squash was represented by President Sergio Becerra at the 2026 Panam Sports General Assembly in Lima, Peru, strengthening key relationships and advancing strategic priorities for squash across the Americas.
The 2026 Panam Sports General Assembly, held on August 27 and 28 in Lima, Peru, brought together leaders from across the Olympic Movement in the Americas to discuss the present and future of sport throughout the continent.
PanAm Squash was present at this important meeting, with President Sergio Becerra representing the Pan American squash community and working to strengthen the sport’s position within the continental sports ecosystem.
Building the road to Lima 2027
One of the key topics for PanAm Squash was the last qualification pathway toward the Lima 2027 Pan American Games.
During the Assembly, PanAm Squash continued working with Panam Sports to consolidate the participation quotas that will be defined through the 2026 South American Games in Santa Fe, Argentina, as part of the qualification process leading to Lima 2027.
With squash entering an important new stage of global growth, ensuring clear competitive pathways and opportunities for athletes throughout the Americas remains one of PanAm Squash’s priorities.
Panam Sports support to strengthen PanAm Squash
Another major outcome was the continued support of Panam Sports for the institutional development of PanAm Squash.
This support will allow the Federation to strengthen its professional structure through the incorporation of a General Manager and a Media Agency.
Both positions represent an important step forward for the organization. The General Manager will help strengthen governance, administration and day-to-day operations, while the Media Agency will expand PanAm Squash’s communications, digital presence and ability to share the stories of athletes, federations, events and the squash community throughout the Americas.
This new structure comes at a crucial moment for the sport, with Lima 2027 on the horizon and squash preparing for its historic Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028.
Building alliances across the continent
Beyond the General Assembly sessions, President Sergio Becerra held conversations with representatives from different National Olympic Committees, seeking new opportunities for cooperation and institutional support.
These relationships will be particularly important as PanAm Squash looks ahead to its 2027 and 2028 Pan American Squash Championships, with the goal of continuing to raise the standard, reach and impact of the Federation’s major continental competitions.
Strengthening collaboration with National Olympic Committees is also part of a broader vision: creating stronger connections between PanAm Squash, its Member Federations and the Olympic Movement throughout the Americas.
Rosario 2029: The next Junior Pan American destination
The Assembly also delivered another major announcement for the future of sport in the Americas: Rosario, Argentina, was confirmed as host of the 2029 Junior Pan American Games.
The announcement marks the beginning of a new cycle for the next generation of Pan American athletes.
For PanAm Squash, Rosario 2029 represents another important milestone in the long-term development pathway for young players across the continent and an opportunity to continue strengthening the presence of squash within the Pan American sports movement.

A strategic period for Squash in the continent
The 2026 Panam Sports General Assembly represented much more than two days of meetings for PanAm Squash. It provided an opportunity to strengthen institutional relationships, advance the pathway toward Lima 2027, secure support for a more professional organizational structure, develop new alliances and look ahead to Rosario 2029.
With major continental championships ahead, the Lima 2027 Pan American Games, and the historic arrival of squash at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the next two years will be among the most important in the history of the sport in the Americas.
PanAm Squash will continue working alongside its Member Federations, National Olympic Committees, Panam Sports and the wider squash community to ensure that this historic opportunity translates into sustainable growth for the sport across the continent.
